There are no unsolvable problems for VERTEX: unique Palazzani lifting equipment for the needs of Rosatom

VERTEX company does not only offer complete solutions for the delivery of lifting equipment, but also enthusiastically works on non-standard and complex tasks.

General Contractor construction of the Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant-2 (Leningrad NPP-2) in the town of Sosnovy Bor, a member of the well-known state corporation "Rosatom" has announced a tender for the supply of lifting equipment for the maintenance of firefighting systems inside the reactor hall dome, located at a height of about 39 m. The complexity of the task was that in accordance with the rules of exploitation of the nuclear power plant the access platform can be delivered to the reactor hall only through a transport gateway on a trolley. It is in the transport gateway, the internal dimensions of which do not allow to place any of the existing on the market access platforms with the required working height, the machine must undergo a purification system with tightly closed doors in a locking mode.

VERTEX specialists after detailed study of the requirements of the customer came to the conclusion that the optimum and cost-effective solution can be a telescopic boom lift Palazzani TSJ39 with certain modifications.

This access platform by Palazzani Industrie SpA, which VERTEX is the exclusive representative on the territory of the Russian Federation of, has the shortest boom in the retracted position and compact dimensions with a maximum working height of 39 m. this model has been commercially produced for over 10 years, and has a positive experience of operating in Russia and all over the world.

VERTEX specialists together with the manufacturer, offered a project of maintenance of the reactor hall dome with an exclusive Palazzani TSJ39. The project was approved and adopted by JSC "St. Petersburg Research and Design Institute "Atomproekt ", and eventually won the tender

The machine was produced at Palazzani Industrie S.p.A. in Paderno (Italy). Palazzani TSJ39 with a raised boom at a certain angle (software and mechanical lock) accommodates the transport gateway of the nuclear power plant, and does not prevent from closing the door. For this purpose, it was also necessary to reduce the lift height by removing the complete tracked chassis and lowering the whole frame. To keep the working envelope and horizontal outreach of the boom, hydraulic outriggers have been replaced by the standard removable outriggers with the area of placement of 3x4 m. For safe operation the assembled machine with outriggers shall be rigidly fixed to the floor of the reactor hall to the metal pads. On the territory of a nuclear power station there is a special place for storage of the access platform. Technical calculations and tests of Palazzani ensure safe work, as evidenced by a certificate of TR CU.

According to the requirements of the Leningrad NPP-2 the lifetime of Palazzani TSJ39 was increased up to 60 years, and the platform was manufactured using a special coating that withstands decontamination solution during processing.

The project for the purchase of an access platform to service the dome of Leningrad NPP-2 was worked through for more than 5 years by the customer, and in the end specifically VERTEX implemented it correctly and in the shortest possible time. In June 2016 the lift was transported with the use of cranes to the territory of the Leningrad NPP-2 in Sosnovy Bor, Leningrad region. VERTEX provides an extended warranty of 24 months from the date of the startup of Leningrad NPP-2 for this machine.
